A downloadable songwriting game

You are a songsmith and you must cross the causeway in the Ravenous Sea to sing to the Serpent King. Your home is built on the back of the sleeping King - one of many giant beasts to roam the world - and every 100 years, he begins to wake. A song must be sung to him to lull him back to sleep, and you have been chosen to sing the song.

The fate of your family and the villagefolk depends on you.

Song For A Serpent King is a songwriting game. Play by flipping cards that represent the causeway and travel along it, reading through prompts and collecting the words they give you. Each word has a point value, and you must collect enough points to have a successful song.

At night, sit by your campfire and write your verse from the words you collected that day.

Weather the hot sun, the strong wind and wicked creatures with sharp teeth. It is a dangerous place out here, and many songsmiths before you have failed.

How will you fare?

Such a beautiful experience! I adore the pensive folklorish tone so much. I've always found poetry both fascinating and a little intimidating, can't think of a more enjoyable way to step out of my comfort zone.

I hope it's ok to ask, would you be interested in having this game translated into Chinese?

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I can't pay for translation at the moment and don't have time to lay it out, but if you are keen, you can send me an email at ella@lostwaysclub.com :)

I was wondering if there would be any more community copies?

I'm really enjoying my first session! It's easy to play, and I love the prompts and getting a word to write the song at night. The layout and style are beautiful. I just have one question: when I'm playing a low tide with three cards, do I have to play all three cards, or can I skip, for example, a K and draw three new cards? What do you recommend?

I'm glad you're enjoying the game!

Yes, on a low tide you can skip cards and draw more cards. Skipping cards means you can miss monster encounters or look for an encounter that gives you a specific word.

such a cool idea! and i love the design!

Thank you!

Just tried it out and I really enjoyed it! I'm glad the point values were fixed because that was one thing I was puzzling over. What a cool concept, and now I have a pretty rad set of pages in my journal with the causeway board, prompts and song I wrote.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
